Pont Saint-Louis
Linking the Île de la Cité to the Île Saint-Louis over 67 metres, the present Pont Saint-Louis, opened in 1970, is the seventh built on this spot: earlier ones were swept away by floods, burned, or struck by barges, one collapsing in 1634 and killing twenty people.
Fully pedestrian, it has become the district's open stage: jazz musicians, jugglers and singers take turns every weekend. The Berthillon ice cream shop a few metres away makes it a compulsory crossing. Tip: the view of Notre-Dame's apse from mid-bridge is among the most photographed in Paris, especially in the morning.
