Pont au Change
The Pont au Change is named after the money changers and goldsmiths who kept shops on it in the Middle Ages, when the bridge was still covered with houses. Rebuilt under Napoleon III, it bears the imperial "N" on its parapets.
It links the Châtelet to the Conciergerie and the Palais de Justice, giving the best head-on view of the Conciergerie's medieval towers and of the clock on the Tour de l'Horloge, the oldest public clock in Paris.
Tip: come at dusk, when the Conciergerie is lit and reflects in the Seine. A natural step between Châtelet and the Sainte-Chapelle.
