Passage Jouffroy
Opened in 1845, the Passage Jouffroy was the first Parisian arcade built entirely in metal and glass, without timber, and the first with underfloor heating. Its glass roof and original clock are listed.
It houses the Musée Grévin, opened in 1882, the Hôtel Chopin whose entrance has not changed since 1846, plus antiquarian bookshops and shops selling walking sticks and toys. A staircase absorbs the slope towards rue de la Grange-Batelière. Tip: the passage links the Panoramas to the Verdeau; walking all three takes twenty minutes and makes the best covered route in Paris on a rainy day.
