Passage du Grand-Cerf
Opened in 1825 on the site of the former Grand-Cerf coaching inn, this arcade has the highest glass roof in Paris: nearly 12 metres, carried by a very slender metal frame that floods the gallery with light.
Abandoned and then closed, it was restored in the 1990s and has since been occupied by independent designers — jewellery, furniture, lighting, design objects — rather than conventional retail. The glazed mezzanines above the shops add to its character. Tip: it closes on Sundays and in the evening; five minutes from Montorgueil, it is one of the brightest and least busy arcades on the right bank.
