Passage Choiseul
At 190 metres, the Passage Choiseul, opened in 1827, is the longest covered arcade in Paris. Its low glass roof, carried on a light frame, runs above a line of some eighty shops.
Céline spent his childhood here: his mother kept a lace shop in the arcade, and he made it the setting of Death on Credit under the name passage des Bérésinas. The Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens, once run by Offenbach, has its stage door here. Restored in 2013, the passage has regained its original brightness.
