Ossip Zadkine, a Russian sculptor who arrived in Paris in 1910, lived and worked from 1928 until his death in 1967 in this house-studio hidden at the back of a courtyard on rue d'Assas, near the Luxembourg Gardens.
The museum shows around a hundred sculptures — wood, stone, bronze — in the very rooms where they were made, and in a small planted garden that gives the place its charm. You can follow his shift from cubism towards a more lyrical form marked by the war. Tip: the permanent collection is free, and this is one of the most peaceful museum gardens on the Left Bank.
