Musée Rodin
From 1908 Auguste Rodin rented a few rooms in the Hôtel Biron, a 1730 rococo house then left derelict, where Matisse, Cocteau and Isadora Duncan also worked. In 1916 he bequeathed his entire output to the state on condition that a museum be created there; it opened in 1919.
On show are The Kiss, The Cathedral, studies for the Burghers of Calais, a room devoted to Camille Claudel and Rodin's own collection, including works by Van Gogh and Monet. Tip: the three-hectare garden, home to The Thinker, The Gates of Hell and Balzac, can be visited on a reduced ticket — ideal in fine weather.
