Le Bouillon Racine
Created in 1906 on Rue Racine, in the Latin Quarter, Bouillon Racine is the most sumptuous of the old Parisian bouillons. Its Art Nouveau decor, a listed historical monument, is a marvel of carved woodwork, bevelled mirrors and ceramics, restored to its original state in 1996.
Unlike the other bouillons, the menu here is gastronomic: refined seasonal dishes, a fine wine list, in a setting worth the trip alone. The upstairs dining room, more intimate, is the most beautiful.
Tip: book ahead, especially on weekends. Allow 40 to 60 euros per person. Ideal for dinner after visiting the Cluny Museum or the Luxembourg Garden.
