Jardin Villemin
Since 1977 the Jardin Villemin has occupied part of the grounds of the former Villemin military hospital, itself housed in the Récollets convent founded in the 17th century. At 4.5 hectares it is the largest green space in the 10th arrondissement.
It offers wide lawns open to walkers, a community garden tended by residents, an educational pond and tall trees that screen the noise of quai de Valmy. The Récollets building on its edge now hosts residencies for foreign artists and researchers. Tip: it is the best picnic spot along the canal when the quays are packed, with shaded benches even in midsummer.
