Grand Palais

Erected for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in just three years, the Grand Palais combines a Beaux-Arts stone façade with a steel-and-glass nave 240 metres long and 45 metres high, roofed by 6,000 tonnes of metal framework — a manifesto of industrial modernity.

It served as a military hospital in the First World War, has since hosted fairs, exhibitions and fashion shows, and staged the fencing and taekwondo events of the 2024 Games.
