Opened in 1826, the Galerie Vivienne is the most elegant of the Parisian arcades. Architect François-Jacques Delannoy created a neo-Pompeian scheme: floor mosaics signed by the Italian Facchina, a domed rotunda, garlands, goddesses and cornucopias celebrating trade.

Neglected after avenue de l'Opéra was cut through, it was restored in the 1970s and listed. It houses the Jousseaume bookshop, open since 1826, fashion houses, a wine merchant and a tearoom under the glass roof.
