Cour Damoye
Opened in 1780 between place de la Bastille and rue de Lappe, the Cour Damoye is a former yard of craftsmen and wine merchants, long occupied by scrap dealers and metalworking shops serving the Faubourg Saint-Antoine.
Restored in 1997, it keeps its cobbles, lanterns and low glazed workshop façades, now occupied by agencies, architects and a few shops. Its 100-metre length creates a pocket of total silence metres from one of the noisiest squares in Paris. Tip: the courtyard is private and closed at night and at weekends; access is at 12 place de la Bastille.
