Castel Béranger
The first major Art Nouveau apartment building in Paris, the Castel Béranger was completed in 1898 on Rue La Fontaine by Hector Guimard, before his famous metro entrances.
Guimard designed everything: the organic cast-iron gate, polychrome brickwork, ironwork and even the door handles. Mocking Parisians nicknamed it "Castel Dérangé" (the deranged castle).
