Laid out in 1988 on the former vine-covered hill of Belleville, the park climbs to 108 metres — the highest viewpoint in Paris after the Montmartre butte. Its belvedere, a wood and stone terrace at the top, opens a head-on panorama across the whole city.
The hill was covered in vineyards until the 19th century, then in open-air taverns; a few vines have been replanted below in memory. A 100-metre cascade runs down the central slope.
