Bataclan
The Bataclan, a concert venue in the 11th arrondissement, opened in the 19th century with a facade inspired by oriental decor. Over the decades it has hosted artists from many different genres, becoming one of the capital's well-known concert halls.
On 13 November 2015, the venue was the site of the deadliest of the attacks that took place that night in Paris and Saint-Denis, causing numerous victims. Since reopening, the Bataclan has resumed its activity as a concert hall while remaining a place of remembrance. Visits are generally limited to the surrounding area, where a commemorative plaque honours those who were killed; a respectful attitude is expected there.
